GRADUATING SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Every spring LYSA, the parent organization of FC Storm, offers $1000 scholarships to two graduating seniors, a male and female, who participated in LYSA either as a player or a referee. Applicants are asked to describe how being a player or referee in LYSA impacted their lives.  A panel reviews the applications blinded to the submitter.

LYSA is proud to announce Lindsay Carlson and Carson Jones as the 2024 Graduating Senior Scholarship Winners.  Congratulations Lindsay and Carson.  We wish you continued success as you start new journeys in college this fall.

Lindsay Carlson
Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy

Lindsay will be studying Occupational Therapy at the University of Cincinnati. Lindsay has been involved in soccer for 10 years, beginning in LYSA’s Recreational program before playing for FC Storm.  In addition, she’s been a referee for several seasons.

Lindsay writes about her soccer experience, “I believe we all have a calling to a greater purpose, through my soccer family, I’ve found my calling to help people become their best selves”.

Carson Jones
St. Xavier High School

Carson will be attending the University of South Carolina to study Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Carson began playing soccer in LYSA’s Cubs program as a member of the Shooting Stars Team.  He was a member of the first FC Storm team in 2016, and played until high school.  In addition Carson has refereed for a number of seasons for LYSA.

Carson related in his essay, “ … at the end of the day, it’s not about winning and losing, it’s about constantly improving and growing with those around you; an idea instilled in me through LYSA soccer that I will carry with me for the rest of my life”.
